changes interpretations questions
A number of rule interpretations have been issued and approved by the
World Council which are still valid under our latest
rules.They are:
Rule 5 Sail Numbers
ISAF Racing Rule Appendix H shall
apply, except as specified in the body of our Rule 5 and : - in
that national letters shall be placed above the sail number and class
insignia
- in that national letters shall not be required on the
spinnaker
(1999)
Rule 13a (Attachment of Cockpit Centre Mainsheet Block)
This rule describes where a replacement block may be fitted. It does
not allow flexible wire or solid metal strops to be added to attach the
block to the mounting. However, if the mounting of the block requires a
shackle, then Rule 13f allows more than one shackle to be used.
(1994)
Rule 13f (Definition of a Shackle)
Rule 13f states that a
shackle may be substituted with another shackle or shackles. This allows
only a shackle (i.e. a device with a hoop and a pin) and not other
fittings performing a similar function. (1994)
Rule 29a (Repairing and Sanding Down Foils)
Repair is
permitted to damaged foils, but this may not be used to allow a
significant change to the shape of the foil. (1994) (Since this rule
interpretation, Rule 29b has been added which further clarifies what is
allowed).
Rule 29a (Function)
In Rule 29a, the word
"function" refers both to the function of the fitting in the
boat and to the function of the fitting itself (i.e. how it works).
